Musty Smell in Your Wardrobe? The Hanging Dehumidifier Bag That Fixes It - No Electricity Needed
It usually starts the same way. You open the wardrobe to put some clothes away and something smells... off. Musty. A bit like an old charity shop. You sniff a jumper that has been hanging there for weeks and realise the smell is already in the fabric - and if nothing changes, it will be in everything by the time the cold weather arrives.
That smell is trapped moisture, and it does not mean you live in a damp house. It means your wardrobe - packed with clothes, doors shut, zero airflow - has become the most humid corner of your home. The fix costs less than a takeaway: the Nyxi Hanging Wardrobe Dehumidifier Bag. Hang it on the rail, and it quietly pulls moisture out of the air - no electricity, no noise, no effort.
The proof is visible: the moisture-absorbing crystals in the top of the bag slowly dissolve as they work, and the collected water trickles into the chamber below. Within days you can literally see the water your wardrobe was holding - customers are routinely shocked by how much there is.
Why Wardrobes Get Damp - Even in Dry Homes
- No airflow - doors stay shut and clothes are packed tightly, so moisture has nowhere to go
- Clothes carry moisture in - garments worn outside, or put away not quite dry, release it slowly inside
- Cold external walls - wardrobes often sit against the coldest wall in the room, where condensation forms first
- Built-in wardrobes are worst - even less ventilation, which is why they are famous for that musty smell
- Autumn makes it all worse - as temperatures drop and windows stay closed, condensation season begins
What Makes These Hanging Dehumidifier Bags Different
How Many Do You Need - and Where to Hang Them
- Standard wardrobe: 1-2 bags on the rail, spaced between clothes
- Built-in or double wardrobe: 2 bags, one at each end
- Whole rooms with condensation: customers hang 2-4 around the room - near windows and on opposing sides works best
- Also brilliant in: airing cupboards, under-stairs cupboards, caravans, boats and garages
- One rule: they must be hung, not laid flat - gravity is part of how they work

What Our Customers Say
Couldn't believe it
I opened my wardrobe door to be met by a strange mouldy smell. After a couple of days the water started to trickle through into the lower bag and I was amazed - the smell is definitely better and my husband also has one hanging in his wardrobe now.
Rae - Nyxi customer
Great moisture capture
These have been hanging in 2 separate wardrobes in-between clothes for six weeks and they have still drawn out the moisture. Set of 6 is great. I'll be buying again when I've run out.
Zena Fletcher - April 2026
100% worth the small cost
Absolute life savers! We have really bad condensation in our flat which always leads to mould. Since putting these up the condensation is minimal and it has mostly eradicated the mould growth. Hang 2 to 4 depending on the size of the room.
Tristan Goddard - January 2026
Cost effective
Brilliant at keeping built-in wardrobes from damp. Used for over a year now to good effect.
Susan Ely - June 2026
They work
These are great for inside wardrobes, all year round. Can't believe how much moisture is in there.

Wardrobe Dehumidifier FAQs
How do they work without electricity?
The bag contains moisture-absorbing crystals that naturally draw water vapour from the air. The collected water drains into a sealed chamber at the bottom of the bag - powered by nothing but gravity.
How long does each bag last?
Typically 4-8 weeks, depending on how humid the space is. You will know it is done when the crystals have fully dissolved into the collection chamber - then simply replace it with a fresh bag.
Where should I hang them?
On the wardrobe rail between clothes, in cupboards, or around rooms with condensation. They must hang upright - laying them flat stops the water draining properly.
Are they safe around clothes?
Yes - the crystals and collected water stay sealed inside the bag. Just hang it, leave it to work, and dispose of the whole bag once the crystals are used up.
Will they stop mould?
They remove the excess moisture that mould needs to grow, and customers with condensation problems report dramatic improvements. For serious existing mould, treat the affected area and consider an electric dehumidifier for the whole room alongside the bags.
